Florence Tays
TAYS, FLORENCE LENORA - The death of Florence Tays of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Barnesville, NB, occurred on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in St. John’s, NL, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Daisy (Stokes) Goosney. Florence graduated from St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Social Work and went on to obtain her Masters in Social Work from Dalhousie University. She enjoyed her career with Veteran’s Affairs for over 30 years and after retirement, decided to continue in the work force with H & R Block. She loved to learn and continued to educate herself throughout her whole life. She loved to quilt and belonged to The Elm City Quilting Guild and the Thimbleberries Club where she was able to socialize with her many friends and family. Florence also had a soft spot for animals, especially horses, loving to spend a day riding. She was a much loved individual who will be missed by many including her sister, Evelyn MacNaughton (Butch) of Hanwell, NB; brother, Ron Goosney (Maryanne) of Ontario; niece, Brittany MacNaughton of Hanwell, NB; aunt, Anne Hickey of Gondola Point, NB; many extended family in Newfoundland; several close friends and many cousins. Predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Glen Tays.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street (458-9170) on Friday, August 10, 2012 and Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will take place in Hampton, NB in the Fall and will be announced at that time. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Florence’s name may be made to the SPCA, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
