Alice Eva Hussey (nee Norris)

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2012, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Alice Eva Hussey, age 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Fred Hussey (1995); parents John and Jane Norris; brothers: Bill, Jack, Melvin (Bucky); sister Mamie; son-in-law Jim Fleet; nephews: Les and Wayne Gorman; great-grandson Jeffery Payne-Fleet. Leaving to celebrate her long and splendid life, son Melvin (Butch) and Nina; daughters: Judy and (special friend Ralph) and Shirley; sister-in-law Helen Norris; nieces: Sandra Gorman, Donna and Suzanne, Carolyn, Marilyn, Debbie and Sharon Norris; nephews: Rick Gorman, Bill, Wayne, Paul, John and Gary Norris; grandchildren: Debbie, Bill (Margo), Rod (Genny) and Randy (Nini) Noseworthy, Paula, Glen (Rosalind) and Derrick (Jennifer) Hussey, Karl (Candice) Abbott, Jim (Danielle) and Jeff (Colleen) Fleet; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Alice lived over 50 years at 192 Hamilton Avenue and worked at Marty’s Restaurant, CN and was a seamstress for Big 6, Bowering’s and Ayre’s. She was an avid Bingo and card player and lover of cats and dogs and her flowers. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one’s choice. A special thank you to the staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Alice will be resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt. Pearl on Sunday, August 19, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Monday, August 20, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Tuesday, August 21, from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Funeral service will be held from Barrett’s Funeral Chapel, Commonwealth Ave., on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road.
