Peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, August 18, 2012, of Mr. Stewart Wakelin of Charlottetown in his 80th year.
Beloved husband of the late Gladie (Vessey) Wakelin and dear father of Ronalda (David) Power, Travis (Janice) Wakelin and Kevin Wakelin. Loving grandfather of Matthew (Melissa) Power, Jared Power, Jessica Wakelin, Emalee Wakelin, Courtney Wakelin and great-grandfather of Emma-Kate Power. Brother of Keith (Mary) Wakelin, Ray (Eleanor) Wakelin, David (Fay) Wakelin, Carolyn Ford and Barb (Emanuel) Edmonds. Brother-in-law of Mary Wakelin and Sylvia Wakelin. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Stewart was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Margaret (McCormack) Wakelin; brothers, Jackie, Earl, Charlie Wakelin; and sister-in-law, Gloria Jenkins.
Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon then transferred to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Stratford, for funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday 6 to 9 p.m.
Charlotttetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at the funeral home on Monday at 5:45 p.m.
