GOSSELIN, ALEXANDRE AUGUSTE - (1989 - 2012) - A bright light has gone out in our lives. Alex Gosselin died on August 17th. You may have known Alex from Riverview High School, or from Dalhousie University where he had just completed his Engineering Degree. Or you may have known him from Sea Cadets (292 Coverdale). Alex graduated with top distinction in May and was due to start his Masters in Engineering in the fall. An avid sailor, he taught sailing to young children in Bermuda during the summer. He enjoyed designing Applications for mobile devices, two of which are sold in the Apple Store. He loved camping with his family in Cape Enrage and Cape Breton. Alex will be forever loved and missed by his parents, Auguste and Lori (Abbass) Gosselin, his sister Natasha, his grandfather, Anthony Abbass, his many aunts and uncles and cousins, and his friends, especially his girlfriend, Sara MacKenzie. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Abbass and his paternal grandparents, Alderic and Laura Gosselin. It was a short life but a very happy life. He brought joy to everyone who knew him.
Visitation Friday, August 24th 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at his home: 1640 Rte 114 Stoney Creek. At 8:30 there will be Parish Prayers and sharing of stories about Alex. Funeral Mass Saturday, August 25th at 11:00 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5 Fatima Drive, Riverview with his great uncle, Father Frank Abbass, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alex to the IWK Health Centre Foundation, 5855 Spring Garden Road, Suite B220, Halifax, NS B3H 4S2 directed to the Pediatric Surgical Unit.
