Rowe, Lucy Ann - Oct. 1, 1910 - August 5, 2012- Passed away peacefully on August 5, 2012 at Fogo Island Health Care Center, Fogo Island, NL Mrs. Lucy Ann Rowe, age 101 years, 10 months.

Lucy resided in her own home until 99 years of age. She then resided at Pleasantview Manor, Lewisporte for two years and returned to Fogo Island and resided at Riverhead Manor, Fogo. Lucy remained very active throughout her life and had good health. She spent countless hours sewing, crocheting and knitting over the years... finishing her last knitting and crocheting project just days before she passed. She was actively involved with the A.C.W.A. and was an organist at church for over 80 years, playing for the last time at church on her 100th birthday.

Leaving to mourn are sons William (Anita) Newman, James (Eileen) Newman, daughter Elizabeth (Stanley) Ferguson, 15 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews, and a large circle of family and friends.

Lucy was predeceased by parents James and Emma Cobb, husbands James Newman and Victor Rowe, daughters Phoebe Newman and Lorraine Decker, step-daughters Ruby Holmes, Audrey Holmes and Marie Budden; sisters Dora Foster, Julia Cobb and Lizzie Cobb; brother Jack Cobb, sons-in-law Gerald Newman and James Decker, stepsons-in-law Henry Holmes and Newman Holmes, grandson Shaun Newman, stepgrandson Wesley Holmes.

Funeral service took place on August 9, 2012 at Church of the Holy Spirit, Fogo Island with The Rt. Rev’d Percy Coffin, Rev’d Harold Brown, and Rev’d David Hewitt presiding accompanied by organist Louise Coffin. Pallbearers were Craig Decker, Boyd Decker, Brent Decker, Dennis Newman, Darren Newman, Lloyd Holmes, Randolph Budden and Shawn Ferguson. Funeral arrangements by Garry and Janice Keats of Fogo Island Funeral Home.

The family of Lucy Rowe takes this opportunity to express deep appreciation to everyone who showed care and support in their time of sorrow.
