MEEHAN, Carol Ann – 56, Debert, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday evening, August 23, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 30, 1956, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Colburne and Jean (Taggart) Cock and a step-daughter of the late Tom Cock. Carol often spoke of her time spent living in Northwestern Ontario and the many fishing trips she took with her husband, Randy, and her parents-in-law, Isobel and Raymond Meehan. She told us time and time again that she considered those to be the best years of her life. Carol worked in the bakery at Masstown Market for many years and currently worked at Kohler Windows and Doors, where she has been for the past 11 years. Her “Kohler Family” loved her and she loved them. Many of them referred to her as “Ma” or “Mother” and she was always willing and ready to fundraise for or help someone who was in need. She was the matriarch of our family and she especially loved time spent with her grandchildren, camping with the family, music and dancing. Carol is survived by her daughters, Leanne Meehan (David Hepburn), Amy (Nick) Clark, Debert; grandchildren, Madeline, Jacob, Charley, Josie; mother-in-law, Isobel Meehan, Truro; sister-in-law, Brenda Esau, Bible Hill; sister, Margie (Jim) Neumann, Winnipeg, Manitoba; twin brother, Carl Colburne, Kentville; brothers, Ian (Bonnie) Colburne, Jim (Janet) Colburne, Middleton; Gordon Colburne, Banff, Alberta; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Randy; father-in-law, Raymond Meehan; brother-in-law, Ralph Esau. Carol’s family would like to express their thanks to the nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Colchester Regional Hospital for their wonderful compassion and care. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. Flowers welcome or donations in Carol’s memory to Intensive Care Unit, Colchester Regional Hospital are welcomed.
