Holley Desiree Osterlund

Holley Desiree Osterlund passed away in Fort St. John, BC at the age of 39 years on June 2, 2012. Holly was born May 29, 1973 to loving
parents Sharlene and Allen Osterlund and big brother Calvin of
Baldonnel, BC. They lived together in a good neighborhood in Baldonnel where they were known by many and had many lifelong friends. While attending Baldonnel Elementary School, Holley pursued gymnastics,
figure skating, and took piano for three years. Home life was very much an extended family affair, particularly at Christmas time, which was
attended by grandparents Bill and Justina Lundquist and Fred and Ellen Osterlund and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In 1988 the family moved to Fort St. John where Holley attended Dr. Kearney Secondary School and then continued on to North Peace Sr.
Secondary School where she graduated in 1991. In June 1994, Holley married Dwayne Shawchek and later had her first son, Devon. It was at this time that Holley was diagnosed with MS, which was considered to be in the early stages and not a serious threat. It was after that the family moved to an acreage in the Clayhurst area, where Holley was endlessly making plans for upgrades and improvements to the farm. She enjoyed fishing, camping and river boating…she loved country life. On January 1, 2000 Holley gave birth to twin boys Jordan and Riley, who were a source of pride for their mom, dad and brother Devon.
Now living in Fort St. John, Holly’s MS was getting to be more severe. The MS was progressing quickly and she went from a cane, to a walker and then to a motorized wheelchair. By 2008 it was necessary for Holley to be cared for by the Fort St. John Care Home which is where she was to remain. At this time her boys returned to Clayhurst to live with their father and would visit her on weekends to bring her up to date on their activities of hunting, fishing school and so on. When she was able to,
Holley took immense pleasure in their visits.
Holley was deeply saddened by the passing of her father Allen and her stepfather Dan within a short time of each other.
Ongoing through Holley’s plight with MS, both her and her mother Sharlene, were most appreciative of the loving moral and emotional
support provided by Calvin, Sylvia and their girls Brenna and Arika, as well as auntie Valy.
Holley’s life was cut short by the devastation of MS and she died
quietly and she was not in any pain. She can rest peacefully now. We believe that she will watch over her son’s with great pride and happiness as they grow to be strong men.
HOLLY…kind, loving, generous, cheeky, playful, and adventurous.
“Full of laughter, full of fun… could get a smile from anyone! “
