Jeffery Payne

Jeffery Payne

Of Cole Harbour and Stanhope, P.E.I. Born in 1962 Jeff was the son of Brian Payne and the late Barbara (Organ) Payne.
Jeff was employed for 20 years in the Packaging Industry, the last 12 years as District Manager for Ampak Inc. Jeff enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved sports especially NFL football - the Steelers and his beloved Montreal Canadians. Jeff played hockey growing up in Timberlea, with TASA and Shannon Park. Jeff went on to play in the Metro Valley Junior League. He played in the Quebec Major Junior with the Le Voisin de Laval and at St. Mary's University in Halifax. Most recently after a lifestyle change, Jeff once again was back on the ice, laced up his skates and played the game he loved so much. Jeff's greatest joy in hockey was watching his two daughters play with Cole Harbour Bel Ayr, and last July he was able to play competitive hockey with his two daughters for the first time. He loved hanging out at Ross Lane beach with all of his girls, swimming in the ocean, golfing at Stanhope, fireworks and hosting family and friends at his cottage in Stanhope, P.E.I., or at home in Cole Harbour. Jeff was known to all as a kind and generous man. Jeff loved to cook, entertain and make people laugh.
Jeff was the much loved husband and very best friend to Florence McCarey, and special father (DABBY) to Maria and Cecilia - his girls were his greatest joy. Jeff will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his father, Brian, of Dartmouth and brothers, Darren of Calgary, Alberta, and Jason of Dartmouth. He was a special uncle, especially to Morrgan, Christian and Izaac Payne; and Shannon and Ben McCarey. Unconditionally loved by stepmother Kim Payne and her husband Brett Dutnall.
Jeff was always giving to others, and continued to do so after his death. Please ensure you sign a donor card.
Visitation will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and again on Friday from 7-9 p.m. A Christian service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Pope John Paul XXIII, Colby Drive, Dartmouth. A reception will be held following the mass in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Jeff's honour may be made to the Cole Harbour Bel Ayr Minor Hockey Association to be used for development of female hockey - contact Paul Mason at pmason@hrsb.ns.ca or 902-462-3380.
