MELANDER: Reuben Albert Melander passed away August 25, 2012 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. The funeral service was held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2 P.M. from the First United Church with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld and Members of the Royal Canadian Legion formed an Honor Guard. The pallbearers were: grandson's Jim Maxwell, Colin Gulevich, Cory Gulevich and Robin Melander and great grandsons's Dylan and Nathan Maxwell. The interment service followed at the family grave site in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reuben was born Feb. 15, 1920 at Central Butte, SK. He was the son of Laura (Franklin) of Woodstock, N.B. and Frank Melander from Shafer, Minn. who were married in 1918 at Moose Jaw, SK. Reuben was the eldest child born in 1920. Reuben was employed at the Saskatchewan Department of Highways then as a Maintenance Supervisor at the E.I. Wood Building when it opened, until his retirement in 1984. Reuben was predeceased by his father Frank - 1951, mother Laura - 1984, brother Kenneth - 1969 a daughter Catherine - 2004. and brother's-in-law Charles Stewart (1992) and Dennis Mann (1996). Reuben is survived by his sisters Shirley Stewart and Phyllis Mann, daughter Ruth, son Robert (Roberta), son-in-law Don Kitlar and grandchildren James Maxwell, Colin Gulevich (Kym), Cory Gulevich (Martina), Robin Melander, Renee Melander Connor (John), Christine Kitlar, Michelle Kitlar Lechelt (Scott) and Cheryl Kitlar. Also surviving are: great grandchildren Caitlyn, Dylan and Nathan Maxwell, Karlee and Logyn Gulevich, Braden and Dane Lechelt, Jake and Madyson Connor, and one great great grandchild, Santiago (Maxwell) Sanchez.
