OMAN: John Bill Oman, age 65 of Swift Current, SK, passed away August 26, 2012 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date. John was born in Swift Current, SK on November 1, 1946. He attended school in various locations as his family moved around often. He met Shirley Peters in February of 1969 and they where married in Swift Current on November 6, 1971. Since the age of sixteen, John has been in the oil patch. Starting from the bottom as a roughneck and working his way up to an Operators position with Sage Oil. He then worked as a Toolpush with Brooks Field Service and then Operations Manager in Lloydminster. John tried his hand at consulting with NorthAm Energy, the Rig Co-Coordinator for Pan Canadian and then Manager of Safety and Quality Control with Round Up Well Servicing and Fleet Coil. He was also a certified Health and Safety Auditor. Following this he decided to go on his own and formed JOSH Energy Services, where he worked up until his illness. John also gave to the communities he lived in, coaching midget hockey for the Moose Lodge Midgets, B.W Rig Generals, the Calgary Royals and Director of Player Personnel for the Lloydminster Lancers. He was an associate member of the A.S.E.T. and P.S.A.C., on the Slim Thorpe Recovery Board and a member of the Kick'n Cancer Support Group. In his spare time, John enjoyed watching sports, fishing, playing cards and board games. He loved listening to music of all eras, reminiscing with family and friends, and journaling. John's special love, other then family and friends, were his dogs, Josh and Jade. They were a constant source of companionship, love and pleasure. They were sometimes treated better then people. John was an honest, reliable, quiet person. He took pride in everything he did. He didn't take life for granted; always taking care of others needs before his own, even through his battle with cancer. John is survived by his wife Shirley Oman; daughter Jodi (Jeff) Mack; son Jason (Shannon) Oman and grandson Jayce. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Betty Oman and in-laws Dave and Marg Peters. John will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
