
Norman Robert "Bob" Bailey
Bailey, Norman Robert "Bob" – 58, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family August 31st, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob, who recently retired after serving his community for almost 35 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was last posted in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia where he served as the community police officer for Bass River as well as the court liaison officer for the Bible Hill Detachment. Bob was a man of few words, but his quiet demeanor was not to be overlooked by his sense of humor, which was a delight to his friends, family, and co workers. While serving in the RCMP, Bob had attended numerous world summits, visits from the Queen and various heads of state, he also had the privilege to attend the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver as part of the RCMP security detail. Bob was the son of the late Lloyd and Henrietta (Dewitt) Bailey. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Sage) Bailey; brother, Cpl. Earle Bailey (RCMP). Bob is survived by his only, loving son, Jason (Erica) Bailey, Truro; sister, Sheila (Gord) Pepper, Kincardine, ON; Aunt Dora (Dewitt) Fuller, Parrsboro. As well as his three Uncles, William (Viney) Dewitt, Riverview, NB, Eldon Dewitt, Parrsboro, and George (Marilyn) Dewitt, Lower Sackville. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 4th at 2 p.m. at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, led by RCMP Chaplin Glen Matheson. Interment will follow the reception in the Bible Hill Cemetery.
