The death of Josephine Garnier occurred peacefully and with dignity on January 14, 2010 at the Mill Cove Nursing Home.
Born October 6, 1929 on Christmas Island, Cape Breton to the late Alan J. and Mary MacNeil. She was the wife of John Garnier of Oromocto, NB.
Josephine is survived by her husband, John; her children, John Garnier (Deborah) of Spruce Grove, Alta., Charles Garnier (Catherine) of Ottawa, Ont., Brenda Dionne (Terry) of Lincoln, N.B. and Darlene Dale (Gerry) of Lincoln, N.B.; grandchildren, John, Meghan, Nathan, Tara, Danny, Nicholas, Kassie, Jared, Kelsey and Blair; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Rodrick MacNeil (Florence) of Christmas Island, N.S.; sisters, Rhodena MacDonald of Sydney, N.S. and Dolena MacDonald of Sydney, N.S.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Libby and Anna Mai and brothers, Hector, Angus, Neil D. and John C.

There will be no visitation by request. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ken Weir officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society.
