THIBODEAU, LEO - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leo Joseph Thibodeau of Saint John, N.B. Leo passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bobby’s Hospice House with his loving family by his side on September 7, 2012. Born in Saint John, NB on December 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Henry Thibodeau and Gertrude (Legere-Thibodeau) Cormier. Leo worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Saint John and at the Coast Guard; among other jobs. He was a lifelong resident of West Saint John. In his spare time, Leo loved to dance, sing and play guitar. He was an avid Hunter and loved the outdoors. Leo was a lifelong member of Legion Branches #2 and #69. Leo will be fondly remembered and missed greatly. He was the King of our family. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bobby’s Hospice and the Extra-Mural Program for their exceptional care and support. Leo is survived by his children, Brenda, Cleo and Dale Thibodeau; brother, George (Margaret) Thibodeau; sisters, Elizabeth (Al) Poirier, Yvonne (Charlie) Theriault, Margaret (Eloi) Robichaud and god son, Charlie; his grandchildren, Jody Northrup, Misty (Derek) Gallant, Mindy (Greg) Thibodeau, Richard Thibodeau, Dana (Brittney) and Destini Paul; great-grandchildren, Justine, Josh and Jayden, Dawson, Jersey, Jasper and Kyle, and several nieces and nephews. Leo’s wife Josephine, of 54 years recently passed away. Leo is predeceased by his brothers, Henry, Simon, Arthur and Edmund; sisters, Pauline (Lorenzo) Hachey, Leona (Jack) Gallant, Genieve (Pat) Roche.
Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Funeral Home “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m, with a Legion Service held at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 2 to 4p.m. Following Cremation, Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice and the Extra Mural Program. Online Condolences may be placed at www.castlefh.com
