Richard "Dick" Murphy
MURPHY, RICHARD “DICK” GERVASE - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dick Murphy, 79, on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at The Moncton Hospital, after a brief illness. Dick was born in Saint John and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Katherine (Shields) and Richard Gervase Murphy, and was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Jean Murphy (2004); his sister, Frances Cooper; brothers, Father Lawrence, Paul, John and Cyril. He leaves behind to mourn his children, Margaret Crowell of Saint John, Diane Murphy of Moncton and Thomas Murphy (Kelly) of St. John's, NL; four grandchildren Samuel, Jeremy, Kyle and Melissa and close friend Leah McKenzie of Maryland. Dick worked with the Federal Government for over thirty years...stationed in Fredericton, Stephenville and Moncton. He retired as a Telecommunications Area Manager in 1990 and did enjoy his time working, but truly revelled in his retirement years. He had many interests, he was a former member of Country Meadows Golf Club, loved the sunny south, walking, hiking, almost anything electronic, and a good belly laugh...in his retirement years he took a keen interest in carving. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and good friends and will be missed by all.
