It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, granddad, brother and uncle, Roy Joseph Bernard on Sept. 29, 2012, at his home in Wagmatcook.
Born in Wagmatcook, he was the son of the late Louis and Annie Christine (Isadore) Bernard. He was a member of Queen of the World Church in Wagmatcook. Roy gave many years of service to the Wagmatcook Band and spent many years operating his own auto body repair business. Roy spent many of his younger years at the Shubenacadie Residential School.
He is survived by his children. Chief Norman (Sylvia), Wagmatcook, Preston (Andra), Wagmatcook, Gordon (Cammeilia), Waycobah, Christie Ann (Cory), Valley Mills, Andrew (Jessie), Wagmatcook; stepson Randall (Melissa), Waycobah; sister, Phyllis (Bernie), Waycobah; grandchildren, Daniela, Dakota, Dylan, Dustin, Lance, Jerry, Desmond, Brent, Cohen, Kaleb, Ayla, Deegan Roy, Skyler, Maggie, Carter and Xandru. Godchildren, Juanita, Roy, Daphne and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his son, Herman; his parents, Louis and Annie Bernard; brothers, Francis and Terrance (died in infancy); brother, Charles and sisters, June and Sarah. He will be greatly missed by his morning coffee buddies, Frank and Noel and we can't forget his faithful sidekick, Missy (his dog).
Visitation will take place at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha in Wagmatcook First Nation starting at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church Wagmatcook with Rev. Robert MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Queen of the World Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
