WILSON, Evelyn Josephine - December 1, 1913 – September 27, 2012. We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn, loving mother of Wilfred “Bill”, Diana Wilson, Gordon (Maureen) Wilson, Diana “Danni” and John Boyd; grandmother to Jeff and Rhonda Wilson, Steve and Michelle Wilson , Brian Wilson, Chris and Keith Wright, Colin and Crystal Tulloch, Jen and Matt Welykholowa, and Tyler Wilson and his fiancé Erin Lloyd; great-grandchildren Mike, Brad and Scott Wilson, Spencer Tulloch, Drew and Tudor Woods, Matson and Meghan Tulloch, Teigan Wright, Brittany Pittman, and Nate Welykholowa. Evelyn was predeceased by parents joseph and ethel Toland, stepmother Leila Toland, infant daughter Darlene, husband Harry Wilson, daughter Patricia Anne Tulloch and son-in-law Arthur Tulloch. Evelyn was born in Webbwood, Ontario. At an early age, she lost her mother and her father went west to homestead north of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She stayed with her grandparents, the Buells and Tolands, until Evelyn came to join him and her step-mom Leila when she was six. Evelyn met and married Harry Wilson. They were married 50 years. She became a hairdresser, then a farmer, but when they moved off the farm and back to Swift current she started the job that was a perfect fit. She became a care giver at the Prairie Pioneer Lodge where she worked until her retirement in 1978. Evelyn was the proud mom. She encouraged all of her children to do their best and everyone that met her knew how proud she was of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a big smile, a bigger heart and lots of hugs. She loved children and was always delighted in visits from little people. When she retired, she and Harry travelled all over western Canada and the USA as rock hounds. Later she travelled with friends to spend winters in B.C., Arizona and Texas. Her travels also took her to Mexico, Alaska, Australia, and to Churchill to see polar bears. Evelyn moved to Calgary at the age of 76 to be closer to grandchildren. She lived for the last 13 years at the Westview Senior’s Residence. A big thank you to all of the staff who provided her served and care. A special thanks to Linda Studer for the interest and help she provided to Evelyn. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and painting. She was knitting a scarf the week before she passed away. She was an avid read of all kinds of books and magazines. She particularly liked storied and articles about Saskatchewan, especially Swift Current. Evelyn has been cremated and a private family celebration of Evelyn’s life was held. Please remember Evelyn by giving someone a big hug. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Special Olympics. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
