It is with deepest sadness, we the family announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, M. Jeanette Pertus, 88, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at the C.B. Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Frankville, N.S., she was the daughter of the late William and Sophie (Decoste) Levangie.
In her younger years, she worked at the Diana Sweets Restaurant and Angel's Groceteria in Sydney. Once married, she stayed at home to raise her family. Jeanette was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's parish, and a former C.W.L. member. She was an exceptional baker and cook. She was well known for her delicious golden brown apple pies. She loved to write letters, and had excellent penmanship.
She is survived by her four children, Yvonne (fiancé Rick Pitchuck); Richard; Paula (Rob) Ballah and Stephen (Charlene); grandchildren, Chad, Todd and Jill Ballah, Renee and Danielle Pertus and Matthew, Jordan and Taylor Pertus. She is also survived by brothers, Cyril (Dolores); Paul and sister, Idella Gillis.
Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Alphonse (2005); brothers, Russell and Nobbie and sisters, Priscilla and Anita.
Visitation will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Friday, Oct. 5, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial in the Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Memorial donations may be made to the I.W.K. Hospital.
