Marie Rosalie (Delhommeau) Bundon

Marie died peacefully at St. Ann’s Nursing Home, Saskatoon, SK on Wednesday, October 10th, at the age of 92. At her side was Michael, her devoted and loving husband of 70 years. She was born on December 21, 1919 in the district of White Star, seven miles north of Prince Albert where her parents Marie and Henri Delhommeau homesteaded. At the age of 14, she met the love of her life, Michael Bundon, on a skating pond close to her home. Michael and Marie were married in Prince Albert on April 6, 1942 where they lived until 1974. The war years were difficult for Marie with a new baby, Paul, and daily thoughts of whether Michael would return safely home. Support from her parents, her siblings, the Bundon family and a strong Catholic faith sustained her during those trying years. Following Michael’s return, the family grew with the addition of Jack, Roberta, Mo and Suzanne. Marie was a wonderful seamstress who could do magic with the remnants from the Church rummage sale and Michael’s old army uniforms. Her skills with the Singer treadle sewing machine were unmatched. Marie was a wonderful gardener, a meticulous housekeeper and an amazing cook. Above all, she was the most wonderful wife and mother anyone could have. One of Marie’s most rewarding activities was spending time with Mike and their children and grandchildren, and their many friends at their cabin at Waskesiu. After Michael retired and became an avid fisherman, Marie was always pleased when she came home with a larger fish than Michael and his fishing buddy, Fred. In 2000, Michael and Marie moved from Regina to Saskatoon where they enjoyed the company of family and friends. Marie was predeceased by her son-in-law, Gustave Dubois; sisters Henriette, Angela, Alexandrine and her brother, Henri. Marie is dearly loved and remembered by her husband, Michael; children Paul (Sharon), Jack (Leslie) Bundon, Roberta Dubois, Maurice (Michelle Carr) Bundon and Suzanne (Dan) Hunter; twelve grandchildren, Barbara (Terry Pettigrew) Bundon, Brent (Liz) Bundon; Jesse, Patrick, Branwyn Bundon; Danielle, Justin, Janique Dubois; Andrea, Johanna Bundon; Amy, Caitlin Hunter; six great grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca Pettigrew; Catey, Paige, Sam, Will Bundon. Marie’s family extend their appreciation to all the staff and friends at St. Ann’s Nursing Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15th at the Chapel at St. Ann's Home (2910 Louise Street). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Senior Citizen Village.
