Morris Canning
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Morris R. Canning, age 89, of Amherst. Morris passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
Born in Parrsboro, NS, he was a son of the late Rupert and Jessie (Morris) Canning.
In his younger years he worked in the woods, then in Moncton for several years. He later moved to Springhill where he was a school caretaker for 13 years. He loved and was loved by his family.
He was survived by daughters, Sharon Canning, Amherst, Judith (Jerry) Myers, Lake Echo, NS, Deborah (Troy) Shea, Springhill and Shelley (Laurie) Heap, River Hebert; their mother Jean Varner, Amherst; 4 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brothers Bruce (Diane), Pembroke, ON, Lewis (Bertha), Moncton; sisters Audrey (Robert) Mayne, Pembroke, ON, Doris Walton, Amherst, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Emma Fulton, Mary Fortune; brother Cyril and Infant Brother Darrell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St, Amherst, (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery, Springhill.
