Elvie Lowther

Elvie Edmond Lowther, age 95, of West Leicester, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in West Leicester, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Mary Jane (Stonehouse) Lowther.
He lived all his life in West Leicester except for a short time he served in the army. He was a carpenter and was proud of the houses he built or worked on in Leicester and surrounding areas. Elvie operated a "sugar woods" on the home property for many years. He enjoyed getting together with friends and pulling out the fiddle to play music. In his younger years he often played at dances.
Elvie was the last surviving member of his family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Frances M. Gordon; brothers, Robert, John, Albert & Norman; sisters, Susan, Helen, Evelyn and Ruby. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by his long time caregiver Dorothy Bowser and his cat Lucky.
There will be no funeral service or visitation by request of the deceased. Interment in the Leicester Cemetery with a graveside service on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 3 pm under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home (70 Church St., Amherst, NS 902-667-8777).
If desired, donations in Elvie's memory may be made to the Leicester Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
