Kristen Viola Ryan

Born In: Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: June 22nd, 1989

Passed in: Canada
Passed on: October 11th, 2012

It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we, the family of Kristen Viola Ryan, age 23, of Port Hastings announce the sudden passing of our dear sweet daughter and sister as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.
Kristen was the love of our lives taken away too soon. As a young girl she loved to stepdance, play the fiddle and piano, and entertained at many concerts and events. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Kristen had a passion for volleyball. She was a proud member of the SAERC Saints and was recruited by the CBU Capers whom she played with for five years. Kristen also had a love for baseball, playing with the Ceilidh Royals softball team, where she was coached by her dad, Mike. Kristen’s dad will greatly miss the special tune she would play on the piano (Dark Island) just for him, the high fives after a win and the pouting after a loss and hearing, “are we going to the gym dad?”
“Small Steps, Big Dreams” go get ‘em Krissy”!
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of Mike and Shelma (Burns) Ryan; loving brothers, Kyle (Angela), Hampton, N.B., Trevor (Keara), Ottawa, Ont.; maternal grandmother, Sheila Burns, MacIntyre Lake; paternal grandmother, Mae Ryan, MacIntyre Lake; special little nephews, Nolan and Caelem, whom she adored; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Daniel ‘Dannie’ Burns, maternal great-grandparents, Harry MacLean and Florence MacLean Morison, Dan Willie and Marion Burns, paternal great-grandparents, James and Georgina Ryan.
Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a vigil service at 2 p.m. Sunday, both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 728 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass was held 2 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 138 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury with Fr. Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial at a later date.
Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada - Maritime Region.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
