MEADE, KARL STILLMAN - Karl Meade formerly of Oromocto, NB passed away on October 17th, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born May 18th, 1932 in Swan Creek, he was the youngest of eleven children to John and Bertha (Howe) Meade and a husband for 24 years to Mildred "Midge"(Jordan) Meade. Throughout his life, Karl worked at various careers and posistions including the Oromocto Fire Department for 34 years, Hartt Canoe Factory, a driver for Evangeline Beverages and Fredericton Airport Fueling and Maintenance. He was extremely active in his community and was a member of the Oromocto Centennial Lodge, Barker's Point and Oromocto Square Dancers, Oromocto Scouting, United Church of Canada with pastoral charge at Pine Grove United Church, the Atlantic Professional Fire Fighters Association, International Association of Fire Fighters and could also be seen fundraising for the provincial ALS Society. He was an avid bowler in various leagues, loved to fish, play cards, games and go to yard sales but his biggest passion was spending time with his family. Karl is survived by his wife, Midge of Fredericton, NB; children, Debra (Meade) Tremblay, Steven Meade, Keith Meade, Susan Meade; stepchildren, John Jordan, Stephen Jordan, Kevin Jordan and Judy (Jordan) Harper; the mother to his children, Christina Hicks; siblings, Etta Robertson, Doris Howe, Helen Sharp and Eva Howe; sixteen grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Matthew, Joshua, Kelly, Natasha, Michel, Allison, Jacquline, Matthew J, Marlee, Dawn, Neil, Christine, Meghan and Wade; eight great-grandchildren, Sara, Courtney, Bradley, Brett, Blake, Ethan, Miya, Nathaniel Karl and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Florence Delong, Wilfred, George, Charles, Harvey and Kenneth Meade.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm and Friday, October 19th, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wally Collett officiating and Rev. Bob McDowell assisting. Interment will be in the Pine Grove United Church Cemetery, Burton, NB.
