MacDONALD, Clarence Everett – 88, Murray Siding, passed away peacefully, Friday afternoon, October 19, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born July 14, 1924, in Westchester Station, he was a son of the late Hugh and Bertha (Moore) MacDonald. Clarence was a long time member of Church of the Nazarene, Truro. He was a veteran of the Second World War and member of Royal Canadian Legion. In earlier years, he worked with Acadian Lines, Lida’s Ark Wheelchair Accessible Transportation, CNR as brakeman and later on as a self-employed painter. A “jack-of-all-trades”, Clarence was always busy tinkering with some type of odd job. Clarence is survived by his children, Vaughn MacDonald (Brenda MacKenzie), Bible Hill; Marilyn (Darrell) Johnson, Salmon River; Paul MacDonald, Dartmouth; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; niece, Sharon MacDonald, Salmon River; many other nieces and nephews; special friend, Joyce Hamilton. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Chesley (Beatrice) MacDonald, Garnet (Noreen) MacDonald. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Legion Tribute Service 7 p.m., today, October 22, 2012, followed by visitation until 9 p.m., funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Reverend Frederic Whittier officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Clarence’s memory to Big Lake Nazarene Camp are welcomed.
