Gerald J. Brazil
Passed on: October 20th, 2012
Passed away as peacefully as he lived each moment of his 70 years, Gerald J. Brazil, of Bell Island. While he reunites with his ever-loved parents, John and Helen (Barry), brothers: Daniel, Bernard, Thomas, and James; sisters: Mary (Galway); Annie (Kent) and baby sisters, he leaves to mourn his dearly loved and devoted sister, Margaret (Bill Skehans) and brother Edward of Bell Island; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Butler of Paradise and Viola Brazil of Bell Island; a large number of nephews and nieces especially Todd Skehans (Jennifer, William and Ryder) and Amanda Brazil (Perry, Jasmine and PJ) as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. He was truly grateful for the care, the comfort, and the kindness he received from all those providing medical attention and treatment over the past five years: Drs. French, Ahmad, Hayward, Thoms, Avery and especially Dr. Laurie, the community health nurses, and all the staff at the Dr. W. Templeman Hospital. Special thanks also to the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Gerald was a doctor’s ideal patient; a person’s truest friend; an employer’s most dedicated worker, a family’ s most precious gem; and now God’s special angel. A true gentleman who loved all the simple things in life, cherished every kind word or smile, and valued every kind deed. A man of great faith who accepted all life had to offer with patience, making no demands and expecting no miracles, but lived and loved with a trust in God. Though of a very mild demeanor, his physical strength was incomparable and the love of his family immeasurable. His passing causes so much sadness, but the memories shared brought so much joy. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to St. Michael’s Parish, Bell Island, or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Visitation at Pendergast’s Funeral Home, Bell Island, Sunday and Monday, 12-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from St. Michael’s Parish, Bell Island.
“... Our precious gem now shines
in heaven.”
