Irving Colburne

Irving John Colburne, age 90 of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 23, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late John and Lena Colburne.
Irving served in England during the second world war, and later worked as letter carrier for Canada Post for over 25 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Amherst Marching Band. Irving had a passion for music, playing with various bands through the years.
Irving will deeply missed by his children, Robert (Peggy) Colburne, Linda (Gordon) LeBlanc, Pat (Richard Mitton) Colburne; grandchildren, Christina, Jennifer, Connie and Mark; step grandchild, Sarah; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother, Bernard Colburne; and his beloved cat Mickey.
He was predeceased by his wife Lena in 2006.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777) from where visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25 from 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Family Parish on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10 am, father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Irving may do so to the Lung Association.
