It is with heavy hearts that the family announced the passing of James Sheldon ‘Jamie’ Peck of Wagmatcook First Nation, 40 years old, (born March 15, 1972) at Victoria County Memorial Baddeck Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, after a battle with cancer, he had passed away peacefully amongst his family.
Jamie was the son of Ethelyne Marie Peck Wagmatcook.
He is survived by his children, Branden James Peck, Tyler James Peck, Fatith Elizabeth Helen Peck, Aaliyah Chanel Peck, Kingston Peter James Peck and also survived by Kristen Googoo mother of Fatith, Aaliyah and Kingston, Wagmatcook. Brothers, Dwayne Peck, Korey Knickle (Allison Peck), Nathan Peck (Courtney Peck), all of Wagmatcook. Godchildren, Charlize Bernard, Dawn Elizabeth Marshall and Victoria Peck. Sister by choice, Joanne Alex (Peck) Eskasoni; godparent, Annie Marie Burns, Westmount/Sydney and sadly missed by several aunts, uncle Joe and several nephew and nieces. Also his dog Max.
Jamie was predeceased by the mother of his children, Branden and Tyler Peck, Shara Bernard, Eskasoni; grandparents, Elizabeth and James Peck; brothers, Adam and Jonathan Knickle; godfather, Isadore Thomas Isadore (ITI) and also a special stepdad, Gerald Stevens.
He was a member of Wagmatcook Blessed (Saint) Kateri Tekakwitha Church.
Jamie was a fishermen with the Wagmatcook Band. He had attended Baddeck Consolidated School then continued on to trade school. Jamie greatest passion was being a father with his five wonderful children, whom he so adored. He loved the time he had spent with his mother, who was also his best friend. He was an active hunter and fishermen. He liked four wheeling and gardening and loved being with his friends. Jamie enjoyed doing special projects with his children and playing video games with them. Jamie’s gentle nature was adored by his children, mother, brothers, family and his friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He greatly appreciated all who visited him at home and during his stay in the hospital and all who had prayed for him.
Visitation for Jamie will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, 7 p.m. at his home 133 Central Rd. off Humes Road, Wagmatcook. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Wagmatcook Blessed (Saint) Kateri Tekakwitha Church with Rev. Robert MacNeil officiating. Burial in the Queen Of The World Cemetery, Wagmatcook.
Memorial donations can be made to the family of late James Sheldon Peck.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, as well as Dr. Genge and Dr. Chow.
Funeral is under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home.
