
Clayton Arthur Smith
Smith, Clayton Arthur, 72, Valley, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen (Carter) Smith. Clayton was an Insurance Underwriter for the past 45-years retiring in December of 2004. He was very active in his community with the Valley Recreation Association. Clayton was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and had a great passion for gardening. Clayton was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. All will dearly miss him.
He is survived by his wife of 49-years, the former Katherine “Kathy” Macdonald; sons, Charles of Ottawa, Tony of Upper Stewiacke, Scott (Paula) of Vancouver; grandchildren Autumn, Keigan, Christopher; brother Leslie (Sharon) of Truro; brother-in-laws John MacDonald (Cheryl), Dan MacDonald (Melanie), Mike Tibbetts (Anne), Raymond Stevens; sister-in-laws Jean Tingley (David), Loretta Nickerson (Loran), Fran MacDonald, Theresa MacDonald, June Jenkins (Dean), Laura MacDonald; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Clayton was predeceased by brother-in-laws Leonard MacDonald, Lee MacDonald, Bernie MacDonald; sister-in-laws Karen Stevens, Sandra Tibbetts.
There will be no funeral service by Clayton’s request. A Celebration of Clayton’s Life will take place on Thursday Nov. 1st from 2-4 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Clayton’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
