G. Dawn Short

SHORT, G. DAWN - G. Dawn Short of Sussex passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Sussex Health Centre. Dawn was born in Saint John on April 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Brooks) Pollard. Dawn enjoyed swimming, reading, and knitting, and had a true love for nature and her pets, and supported the Canadian Wildlife Association. Dawn was the rock of her family’s life, a true inspiration and role model in her honesty and zest for life. Her sharp sense of humour was truly uplifting and was perfect for making people feel good. She will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to call her Mom, Nan, sister, and friend. Dawn was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 35 years, Bob Short; and by the light of her life, her son Donald Short. Dawn is survived by her loving grandchildren, Melanie Short, April Short, and Scott Short (Kelly); great grandchildren Brian, Matthew, Madison, Ethan, and Benjamin; her daughter-in-law, Faye Short of Sussex; and her sister, Betty McHugh of Saint John.
As we honour our Nan’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Wildlife Association would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.

Life Must Go On
Grieve for me, for I would grieve for you.
Then brush away the sorrow and the tears
Life is not over, but begins anew,
With courage you must greet the coming years.
To live forever in the past is wrong;
It can only cause you misery and pain.
Dwell not on memories overlong,
With others you must share and care again.
Reach out and comfort those who comfort you;
Recall the years, but only for a while.
Nurse not your loneliness; but live again.
Forget not. Remember with a smile.
