It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of David George Lawrence Miller of Massey Drive on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. David will be missed by his loving and dedicated wife of fifty years, Winnie; four children: Bonita (Francis) Howe, Massey Drive, Deborah (Dennis) Yabsley, St. John’s, Paul (Sylvie) Mundleville, NB, and Laura Lee (Jim) Parsons, Meadows; grandchildren: Julia, Julie, Marcella, Marlie, and Jacob; brother Everett (Judy), ON; sisters: Jean (Lenny), ON, Anne (Sam), NL, and Ruth (Ted), NS; brothers-in-law: Wallace (Georgina) Park, and Roy (Elaine) Park, NL; aunt and godmother Annie Smith, Corner Brook, aunt Ruth Ridolfo, ON, and aunt Edith Lawrence, Corner Brook; and uncle Arch (Joyce) Miller, Portugal Cove; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by: parents George and Verna; and brother Bruce. David was a welder at Corner Brook Pulp and Paper before retiring in 1997. He was Past President of I.A.M. and A.W. Local 1567, past member of the Massey Drive recreation council, former Mayor of Massey Drive, as well as past exalted ruler of the B.P.O.E local 505 and Past President for B.P.O.E. NL. David served for many years as an arbitrator for HRDC as well as in various positions with the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday from 7-9 PM and on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 6th at 10:30 AM from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street, the Very Reverend Baxter Park officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation- Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one’s choice. The family guestbook may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.
