STEWART (Ferdinand), Roberta Helena – 75, Truro Heights, passed away suddenly, surrounded by her loving family and Pastor, on Sunday evening, November 4, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born January 9, 1937, in Westchester Station, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Rushton) Ferdinand. Roberta was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She devoted her life to God, family and music. She was active in many churches throughout her life in the communities she lived in and most recently was an adherent of Truro Heights United Baptist Church. In her younger years, she was a strong member of St. John Ambulance Brigade and was devoted to her children by supporting them in all their extracurricular activities. She absolutely loved fishing and many happy times were spent with family and friends at the camp in Westchester Station where there was always plenty of food, laughs, music and love. Roberta is survived by her daughters, Karen Atkinson (Lawrence Pye), Grand Prairie, Alberta; Ellen Stevens, Beaver Bank; son, Paul (Tanya) Atkinson, Springhill; grandchildren, Marianne (Mike) Matheson, Grand Prairie, Alberta; Daniel Snell (Gayle Sharpe), Springhill; Amanda Calder, Amherst; Heather MacKinnon (Garry Bergeson), Whitecourt, Alberta; Mike Ryan, Grand Prairie, Alberta; Douglas Stevens, Beaver Bank; Chelsea Atkinson, Faith Atkinson, Springhill; six great grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Jim) Fisher, Hilden; brother, Carson (Jackie) Ferdinand, Truro; sister-in-law, Polly Ferdinand, Westchester Station; several loving nieces and nephews; special friend, Bob Jobe, Truro. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bob Wright; brothers, Willis (Frances) Ferdinand, Winston Ferdinand. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Roberta’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012, in Westchester Wesleyan Church, Westchester Station, Pastor Greg Porter officiating. Interment in Eagle Hill Cemetery. Reception will follow in Westchester Fire Hall. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Roberta’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or IWK Health Centre are welcomed.
