
Vila Evangeline Murphy
It is with great sadness that the family of Vila Evangeline Murphy, 71 of Joggins announces her passing on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at All Saints Hospital, Springhill, NS surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Minto, NB, Vila was a daughter of the late Lucien and Rita (Gallant) Gautreau.
She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins and the Catholic Women's League. Vila was a home maker all her life and her greatest joy was being a Mom to her three boys, Nannie and Great Nannie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vila is survived by three sons, Chris (Wendy), Toronto, Kim (Jean), Wainwright AB, and Wade (Joan), Lower Maccan. Vila was one of the proudest Nannie you would ever meet. Survived also by her grandchildren, Wade Jr., Amherst, Holly (Jeremy), Sackville, Shawn and Matthew, Wainwright, AB; step grandchildren, Barry (Kara Lynn), Barrie ON, and Chris, Springhill; great granddaughter, Kaycie Paige; step great grandchildren, Kayden and Aspen Lily; sisters, Irene (Fred) and Jean both of Joggins, Elsie, Betty Ann and Lenore all of Amherst; brother Benny (Marilyn) of Amherst; sisters in law Lillian (Curtis) Faulkner, Truro, Betty Lalande, Saskatchewan, Mary (Leo) Burke, Toronto and Bernice Gautreau; brothers in law, Bobby Murphy, Joggins and Joey St. Peters of Amherst; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Vila was predeceased by her husband Jack in August 2012, her sisters Alice and Clara and brother Ernest as well as sister is law Margaret and brothers in law Henry, Sonny, Jerry, Clayton, Arnold and Weldon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. all in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Joggins with Father Phil Thibodeau and officiating. Reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place following cremation at the Ragged Reef Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vila's memory may be made to the ALS Society or the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church CWL.
