LEGER, ROBERT “BOB” - 1935 - 2012 - Bob Leger, 77, of Villa du Repos, formerly of Braemar Drive, Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness, on Monday, November 12th, 2012 at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Henry and the late Alice (née: Hebert) Leger. Bob was a firefighter with the City of Moncton, having retired in 1994 as Senior Deputy Fire Chief. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1310 (3rd degree) and Angus L. MacDonald (4th degree) as well as a parishioner at Notre-Dame de la Paix Roman Catholic Church. He was chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for many years, and generously volunteered his time and efforts with many other associations. Mr. Leger was an original founding member of the Moncton Slowpokes Oldtimers Hockey Club and a member of Maplewood Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, Rose (née: Gautreau); two daughters: Debbie (Guy) Richard and Denise (Georges) Fougere both of Moncton; one son, Mike (Diane) of Shediac; three sisters: Lucille (Roger) Babin of Shediac, Rachel (Laurie) Melanson of Holliston, Mass and Anne-Marie (Ovila) LeBlanc of Waltham, Mass; two brothers: Paul-Emile (late Yvonne) of Shediac and Harvey (Olive) of Greater Lakeburn; one sister-in-law, Annette Leger of Waltham, Mass; five grandchildren: Serge, François, Chantal (Jason), Luc and Alexandre; one great grandchild, Raphaël as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Donnie.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and also Friday from 9 am until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Notre-Dame de la Paix Roman Catholic Church, on Friday, November 16th, 2012 at 10:30 am. Interment in the Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB.
