Albert Angers

ANGERS, Albert Louis “Pie” - age 91, passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2012. Albert and Simone had recently moved to Springhill, NS to live with their daughter. Before moving to Springhill, they spent 25 years thoroughly enjoying their retirement in Port Royal, Annapolis County, the place of his birth. He was a son of the late Albert Louis Sr. and Mattie (Croscup) Angers. At the age of 19, Albert was the Chief Brick Layer for the construction of the replica of Champlain’s Fort known today as the Port Royal Habitation. From 1940 - 1947 he had worked with his father in Port Royal manufacturing gears and components, gauges and tooling for armaments for the Armed Services. Prior to his retirement, Albert had worked for 40 years as a designer and builder of various types of machinery ranging from disc and drum brake manufacturing in Dorval, Quebec and (Brasbestos) in New Jersey, to wire processing (Wiremaster) and designing heating furnaces and boilers, convection radiators and automating production equipment (Atlas Webster) in Montreal. Albert was a brilliant man and his family believed there was absolutely nothing he couldn’t do. During his retirement years he designed and built machinery “Just for fun”. Albert was a self-taught computer whiz and enjoyed sharing jokes and staying atop of current affairs. He was always available to his neighbors for any job that needed doing and fixed anything that needed fixing; he may even have tackled a few unnecessary jobs as well! Albert was an amazing Chef and there were hundreds of friends and relatives who, over the years, have sat at his table and enjoyed his marvellous gourmet creations. He was well known for his ready laugh, his calm manner and his entertaining life stories. Albert is survived by Simone (Campeau) Angers, his loving wife of 53 years; daughters Barb Angers of Port Royal, NS; Carolyne Angers (Bob) of Springhill, NS and son Gene Angers (Mechele) of Manitou Beach, SK; his granddaughter Jenny (Patrick); grandsons Sam and Tim and great granddaughter Madison.
