BELYEA, RALPH W. - It is with deep sadness that the family of Ralph W. Belyea, 87, of Moncton, announce his passing at ProTem Health Services on Thursday evening, November 15, 2012. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Jamieson) Belyea. Ralph was a retired pharmacist and former owner of Corner Drug Store (Main St. and Lutz St.) for a number of years. Ralph attended Moncton High School, Acadia University and was a graduate of Dalhousie University School of Pharmacy and was past President of the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Association. He was a long time member of St. John’s United Church, where he served on various boards and committees in past years. Ralph was a member of Keith Lodge #23 F. & A.M., with 65 years service and member of the Moncton Shrine Club. He was past President of the Probus Club of Greater Moncton, Past President of the Beaver Curling Club, past Chairman of the Moncton Community Chest (Red Feather) and a former member of the Moncton Rotary Club, the Moncton Gyro Club, the Moncton Golf & Country Club and the Salvation Army Board. Ralph was past Chairman of the Moncton Hospital Trustee Board and was one of the founding members of The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing, gardening, loved his hunting dogs (English Setters) and spending time at the family cottage (Shediac Cape); but first and foremost, was spending precious time with his family and grandchildren.Ralph will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Courtney (Miller) Belyea; children, Gordon Belyea (late Ivy), Peggy DeWare, both of Moncton, Lesley McDavid (Ken) of Stettler, AB and Stuart Belyea (Kim) of Moncton; precious grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Brad and Adam; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Keith Lodge #23, F. & A.M. Memorial Service on Sunday at 1:30 pm. A Celebration of Life Service for Ralph to be held at St. John’s United Church, Alma Street, on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception in the Great Hall at the Church following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. In Ralph’s memory, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, The Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a memorial of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
