LILLEY - Gerald Vincent, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Halifax on September 4th, 1927 he was the son of Vincent and Mary Lilley.
In his early teens the family moved to Dartmouth where he resided until his death. His first employment was with T. Eaton Co. He then went to work for Air Canada where he worked for 36 years until his retirement. During this time, and after retirement, he and his wife travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Gerald was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and played for several hockey clubs in his youth. He was a talented pianist, and enjoyed doing crosswords and other word puzzles.
Gerald is survived by his wife Bonnie, to whom he was married for 58 years. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Tony) Gibbs; son Stephen (Sandra) and eight grandchildren Ryan (Erin), Ashley, and Curtis Gibbs, Cassandra, Colin, Carly, and Carmen Lilley, Courtney (Jamael) Libbus and one darling great-grandson Dylan Gibbs.
He was predeceased by his two sisters Helen (Alf) Shano and Marie (Peter) Clattenburg and one brother, Arthur.
A special thank you from his family is extended to the wonderful and exceptionally caring staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital, and in particular to those of the 4th floor transitional care unit.
No visitation by request. Family flowers only. Funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church, Caledonia Rd, Dartmouth, on Tuesday, November 20th at 2 p.m.. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
