The family of Paul Alphonse Chiasson, 66, is saddened to announce his death which occurred on Saturday, 17 November 2012 at St Martha's Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Margaree Forks, Cape Breton, Paul was the first son of the late Joseph U. & Rita Chiasson.
Paul was a teacher and mentor both in and out of the classroom. He graduated from St FX with a BA/BEd in 1967. He dedicated his working life to teaching in Nova Scotia and left a profound impression on his students and colleagues. His passion for learning continued after his retirement with eight years of teaching English at Xi'an International Cooperation College in central China and the receipt of his Masters in Educational Studies from the University of Newcastle, Australia in July of this year.
Paul was also a devoted father, husband, brother, and friend and was most
content when engaged in conversation, reveling in nature, or enjoying a good meal. He was as good a listener as speaker; thoughtful, wise, and deeply caring.
Paul was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Beth Wright. He is survived by the light of his life, his son, Eli (Amanda), Halifax and dedicated siblings Aurelia, Antigonish; Bernadette, Sydney; Leonel (Janice), Maryvale; Theodore (Lorna), Margaree Forks; Lucille White (Terry), Halifax; Denise LeBlanc (Leo) East Margaree; Simone Carmichael (Paul) Baddeck; and Cecile, Antigonish.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 23 November from 2:00–4:00PM & 7:00–9:00PM at the Cranton Crossroads Community Centre, 206 Cranton Crossroads, Margaree Center. A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Saturday, 24 November at 11:30AM with Pastor Peter Ramsay officiating. Burial will take place at St Michael's Cemetery, East Margaree. A reception will take place immediately following at the Cranton Crossroads Community Centre.
