Born: December 27th, 1962

Passed on: November 17th, 2012

FRIEDMAN, JAMES LEO - From his roots in California’s sun-soaked cityscapes, to his rural retreat in Maine’s frosty forests - James lived life to the fullest, no matter where he roamed. He swam with dolphins; he sailed tall ships. He feasted on New Brunswick donairs, and delighted in homemade apple pie. James’ journeys were mapped through the colourful tattoos that danced across his legs and arms. But the route to his soul was through his music. In the words of singer-songwriter Bob Marley: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” James carried more pain than anyone should have to, but he always carried a guitar to keep it at bay. Now, his pain is gone, his music lives on, and his soul can rest in peace. His love for family will be greatly missed by parents, Stanton and Marilyn Friedman of Fredericton, NB, Canada, sisters Rachel J. Friedman of Torrance, CA, and Melissa K. Friedman (David Parsons) of East Gore, NS, Canada, son James Kenneth Friedman (Luzelle) and grandson James K. Friedman of Union City, CA. He will also be missed by his extended family in Canada and USA, as well as many caring friends across North America. He was predeceased by an older brother, Sean Patrick Friedman. Special gratitude and thanks to the physicians, nurses and staff of the EMMC, Bangor, Maine, and the Houlton Regional Hospital of Houlton, Maine for their compassionate care during James' illness. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to the Hemophilia and Cancer Societies.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration of James's life will take place on December 1st. “BARUCH DAYAN HA-EMET.” BLESSED BE THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE.
