FITZSIMMONS, GENE EVERET - (1930 - 2012) - Mr. Gene Everet Fitzsimmons of Woodwards Cove Grand Manan Island passed away with his family by his side on November 20th, 2012. Born on Campobello Island, Gene was the son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Mitchell) Fitzsimmons. He was the last surviving member of a family of thirteen. He is survived by his wife Juanita (Flagg); children Deborah (Wayne) Tucker, Kenneth (Kim Shepherd), Roger, Kim (Peter) Cruickshank all of Grand Manan, Anita (Bruno Mallais) of Beaver Harbour and Allura of Truro; grandchildren Tammy Clements, Patricia Tucker, Jessica, Curtis, Cohen and Saul Fitzsimmons, Michelle Mallais, Will, Grace, and Eli Cruickshank; six great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A very heartfelt thank you is extended to the exceptional staff, a special nurse Sue and Chaplin John Martin of Ridgewood.
There will be visiting at Ells Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2 pm from Central Wesleyan Church with Pastor Tim Branscombe officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Gene’s family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
