Amelia E. Greene

Amelia E. Greene

February 26, 1919, passed peacefully in her home November 2012. Predeceased by her beloved husband, John P. Greene.
Amelia was devoted to her community and her church, serving as Regent of the I.O.D.E., president of Beta Sigma Phi and secretary of St. Thomas’s Anglican Church A.C.W. She was a proud member of the Monarchist League.
Amelia and her husband, John, were members and benefactors of the Canadian Institute of Mining.
Each year she donated one of her own paintings for auction at the annual convention, which she attended.
Amelia was a fervent supporter of Memorial University. After her beloved John’s death in 1998 she embarked on a course of study in Earth Sciences and was an invited guest and speaker at many ceremonies.
Amelia and John enjoyed life long friendships at the Crow’s Nest to which they were also benefactors. For many years they were very active curlers at Bally Haly.
Amelia is survived by her sisters: Gloria (John Short) of Truro, N.S.; Verona (Reg Woodford) of St. John’s; brothers: Don Lemoine (Betty) of Pasadena; LeRoy Lemoine (Angela) of Grand Falls; and many loving nephews and nieces.
Her beloved St. Thomas’s Anglican Church was home to her deep faith and she was honoured to be a benefactor to her church. Special thanks are offered to Rev. Westin for the regular home visits, attendance and care she enjoyed and took comfort from.
Amelia will be missed by many but never forgotten. She has gone to her eternal rest, rejoined with her beloved.
