It is with heart felt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leo Legere age 88 of Glace Bay. Leo passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with very close friends at his side.
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick Leo was the son of the late George and Jenny (Bourgeois) Legere.
He was a resident of 55 Minto Street, Glace Bay for many years and a recent resident of Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home, Veteran Wing, Glace Bay. Leo was a veteran of World War II and was wounded while serving overseas. He was a former member of Branch 3 Legion, Glace Bay. Leo was employed as a cab driver for 40 years.
Leo will be sadly missed by his loving and close friends, Wayne, Loretta and Jen MacKenzie, whom Leo considered family. Also surviving are his friends at 55 Minto Street, especially, ‘Bear’ MacNeil.
Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his wife, Nettie (MacEachern).
In honoring Leo's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
