David Mackie

David Roy Mackie passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the age of 73 years. Born and raised in Prince Albert, SK he was the eldest of four children born to Roy and Edna Mackie. A capable and principled man, Dave was devoted to his family and dedicated to his work. Settling in Regina, he pursued a 25 year career with Crown Zellerbach Ltd (Unisource). In 1986 he assumed management of the Saskatchewan Egg Producers, dedicating himself to the growers, their business, consumer education and nutrition until his retirement in 2004.
Generous of spirit, Dave volunteered for many local groups over the years including the Capital Cosmopolitan Club, The Regina Highland Dancing Association, St. Luke's Anglican Church, The Tartan Curling Club and the Canadian Western Agribition. A jack-of-all-trades gifted with patience and persistence Dave enjoyed working in his basement workshop or out in the garage on the latest project. A skillful carpenter he completely renovated his home of 40 years and created beautiful furniture for family and friends.
Dave was especially at home in the outdoors. He loved to spend weekends and holidays with family and friends skiing, curling, camping, fishing, boating, and golfing. The cabin at Christopher Lake held a very special place in his life, where he went to enjoy nature and time with those closest to him.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soul mate of 48 years, Pat; his children David (Erin), Christa Dionne (Rob); his grandchildren Noah, Naomi, Jackson; his brothers Ken (Elaine), Grant (Doris); his brother-in-law Larry Boettcher; his sister-in-law Jean Kurbis (Elmer); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dave is predeceased by his parents Roy and Edna Mackie (née Smith), sister Ina Boettcher, sister-in-law Alberta Mackie (née Featherling) and parents-in-law George and Agnes Hood (née Craik).
Prayers of Commendation were held and a celebration of Dave's life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to:
