Gordon Wilfred Hebb - 89, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Billtown, Kings County, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 6, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in the family homestead in Leminster, Hants County, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Marjorie (Maharney) Hebb. He had been employed as a labourer on farms, lumber camps and highway projects. He also worked at the Falmouth Fruit Company, Daykene Farm in Mt. Denson and as a truck driver for Hiltz Bros. Ltd. furniture in Kentville. He owned and operated Gordon Hebb Appliance Service from 1970-1999, from where he retired. Gordon was also in partnership with his son, Dale at Bent Cedar Farm in Billtown. An honest man with a sense of humour, Gordon enjoyed gardening, sharing stories and had fond memories of driving his Dodge car and working with his grandfather in the family lumber mills. He was a devoted family man and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, the former Doris Ann Hiltz; three sons, Brian (Amanda), Great Village; Warren (Penny), Wallace; Dale (Joan), Billtown; seven grandchildren, Briana, Theoren and Thayne; Emma and Thomas; Navarre and Owen; a sister, Eleanor Redden, Martock, Hants County; four brothers, Russell, Leminster; Lester, Central North River, Colchester County; Laurie, Weston, Kings County; Francis, Aylesford, Kings County; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Helen Hebb; an infant sister; a brother, Melvin. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Cathy Pharo officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory would be gratefully accepted to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the charity of your choice.
