Bernard, Jerome (Jerry) Urbain
Jerry Bernard, aged 92: beloved husband, father, brother, friend; multitalented engineer, cartoonist, calligrapher and musician has slipped the surly bonds of earth and is now touching the face of God. Jerry died peacefully with family by his side on December 9, 2012 in Windsor, ON. Loving husband of 66 years of Mary (Mulhall). Father of Richard (Darian), Tom (Sandra), Leo (Joyce), Kathryn (Roger Foster) and Mary Ellen (Michael Grondin). Predeceased by his father Benoit, mother Emma, sister Rita Whitehead, brother Maurice of Moose Jaw / Caron and Annette, of Toronto. Jerry was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK and was always proud of his prairie roots. He joined the RCAF at age 20 and served as a flight lieutenant pilot in Canada, England and West Africa during WWII. After the war, he married and earned an engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He moved to Windsor in order to work as an automotive engineer, working for over 30 years at plants in Detroit. He was an active member of St. John Vianney parish and did many hours of volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held at Marcotte’s Funeral Home in Tecumseh, ON on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 and funeral mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Windsor, ON on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Well wishers are asked to donate to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Knights of Columbus in Jerry’s honour. Share memories and online condolences at www.marcottetecumseh.ca
