It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Dennis Edward Barry, say good bye to a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother and true friend to all who knew him.
Denny passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
Born in Sydney Mines, on Oct. 14, 1953, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary (Handley) Barry.
He was predeceased by his brother Jerry Barry and recently his beautiful wife of 37 years, Deborah (Jackson) Barry.
He leaves behind his five loving children, Sabrina (Brad Williams), Angie, Lisa (Patrick) Smith, D.J. and Jamie (Robin Woods); his six beautiful granddaughters, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Janelle, Lola, Carly and Jayde. Also surviving are his brothers, Alex (Colleen), Jimmy (Cindy), Joey and Billie; sisters, Margie (Ed) Bailey, Catherine (Steve) Romard, Colleen (Paul) Sheffield and Edna (Glen) Burton; many nieces and nephews; good friends, Kenny LeBlanc, Clarence Finnigan, Paul MacDonald and Graham Toomey.
Denny moved to Ontario in his younger years where he was employed with the Region of Peel Department of Highways. He was well known for his great sense of humour, big smile and hearty laugh. He gave and helped anyone in need. Denny recently found great peace cruising in his boat along the Bras d’Or Lakes with his boys, family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
