Joan Bagnell, 84, passed away at Taigh Solas Nursing Home, Northside General Hospital, on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late David Norwood and Emily Margaret (Northcroft) Bagnell.
Joan worked for many years at Eatons department store in Sydney and retired from the switch board at St. Rita Hospital.
Joan is survived by her friend and cousin, Francis Quann; Francis’s daughters, Charlene and Florrie Ann. She will be remembered always as a special friend to Jean Baker. Joan will be remembered as well by the many friends she made while showing and breeding her beloved Japanese spaniels which she would refer to as her children. Joan loved all animals and also spent time with the Humane society.
Joan was a very kind person who shared her cottage at Beaver Cove with many of us. She loved her childhood there as well as in later years going with her doggies to sit and watch the wonderful sunsets on the Bras d’Or.
As per Joan’s wishes there will be a grave side service in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
