Isidore Cormier

CORMIER, ISIDORE - 1929-2012 - It is with the most profound sadness and great loss that we announce the passing, with his loving family by his side, of Isidore Cormier, 83, a cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre following a brief illness. Born on April 4, 1929 in Maltempeque, NB he was the son of the late Alexandre and Celina Cormier. A well-known New Brunswick business man and entrepreneur, Isidore was the founder of the Acadian Bakery in Bertrand and the House of Carpets in Bertrand, Tracadie and Moncton. In 1974 he founded Beco Furs in downtown Moncton and operated it for over 35 years until his well-deserved retirement. He was a generous supporter with his time and donations with Les Dames d’Acadie in Moncton helping single mothers and their children, and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be sadly missed by his two loving children: his daughter, Bernadette Wiseman (Paul) of New Jersey and his son, Bernard (Janice) of Notre-Dame; his three adoring grandchildren: Patrick of Toronto, Christine of North Carolina, Isabelle of Moncton; the mother of his children, Adrienne (Roy) Cormier: two sisters: Lina Cormier of Montréal, Berthilde Gionet of Moncton; one brother, Médard (Louise) of Shediac Bridge; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a brother, Alexis.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette’s Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19 at 10:30 am followed by a reception also at the centre. The family will receive condolences on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday morning from 9:30 am. In memory of Isidore, a contribution to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
