Violet May Redmond
REDMOND, Violet May – 80, Truro. We, the family of the late Violet May Redmond, wish to announce the reunion of our dear mother with our brother, Randy, and his son, Wayne. Mum passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Mum’s greatest accomplishments were her six children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mum was a waitress at The Palliser Restaurant for 24 years where she received an award for being the best waitress. Mum loved knitting, quilting, baking, traveling and shopping. Mention a sale to Mum and you would see her eyes dance and she was off to shop for her kids…always coming home with a trunk full of goodies. Our Mum was a talented lady with a heart of gold who was always there for anyone who needed help. Never an unkind word spoken by Mum, you could always count on her words of wisdom; when we were at our lowest, she was always there for us with her witty sense of humour; we never knew what to expect. Born in Pictou County and growing up in River John, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Gertrude (Hiltz) Langille. Mum leaves behind a legacy of five remaining children, Mit (Teresa), Harley (Janice), Debbie (Michael Pryor), Chrissie (Gary Huntley), Dale (Mariya); twelve remaining grandchildren, Michael, Kimberlee, Donna, Donald, Craig, Tawnya, Atalaya, Terra, Anthony, Jessica, Randi, Morgan; 17 great grandchildren, Aaron, Carly, Justin, Joseph, Mitchell, Nicholas, Cole, Jada-Lynn, Carter, Austyn, Alyiah, Harleigh, Laila, Elaina, Parker, Liara, Arlow. Mum also leaves behind three special family friends, Brenda, Yvonne, Betty; sister, Carrie; many special friends, too numerous to mention…you know who you are. A celebration of Mum’s life will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Valley United Church, 110 Salmon River Road, valley, Reverend Mary J. White and Reverend Larry Harrison officiating. Immediately following the service, we will join our beautiful mother with Randy and Wayne at Crossroads Cemetery. Reception will follow in the church hall. Flowers welcome or donations in Violet’s memory to Third Place Transition House are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
