Gerald ‘Gerry’ Morgan, 74, of Bedford, N.S. passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 in the QEII, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Cleveland, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Robert and Veronica (Steele) Morgan. A proud graduate of the class of ‘61 at St. FX University, Gerald had a long and successful career in the mortgage industry in both Montreal and Halifax. Strong in faith, Gerry was an active member in his parish as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. As a father, Gerry was always actively involved in his children’s lives from coach to chauffeur to fan. He was selfless, neighbourly, hardworking and generous.
Of all his achievements, he was most proud of his 10 grandchildren. Grandad will be sadly missed on spaghetti night Fridays.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Emily (Langley); children, Gerry (Suzanne), Debbie (Stephen) Patterson, Rob (Melissa) and Shawna (Greg) Lowther; adored grandchildren, Kayleigh, Madison, Owen, David, Molly, Emily, Isabella, Bo, Ben and Thomas; siblings, Winston (Paddy), Judy, John, Walter, Sharon (Kevin) Corbett, Roddy (Shirley), and Lee (Jim) Passmore.
Predeceased by brothers, Robert (Florence) Morgan and A.J. (Kaye) Morgan.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, N.S., B3S0E1 (455-0531). Memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church.
