Ernest Allen ‘Ernie’ Dormiedy
The death of Ernest Allen 'Ernie' Dormiedy, 67, of Amherst and formerly of Wentworth occurred at the All Saints Springhill Hospital on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Ernie was born in Cape Breton on April 2, 1945.
Ernie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He loved playing the spoons and listening to bluegrass music. He was a family man and his biggest love of all were his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Ernie will be sadly missed by his daughter, Brenda (Stacy) Smith, of Rodney; two sons, Paul (Heather) Dormiedy, of Collingwood and Steven (Julie) Dormiedy, of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Dean, Rebecca, Heidi, Carrie, Allison, Brandon, and Corey; one brother, Johnny Dormiedy, of Scarborough, ON; a sister-in-law, Joan (Therle) Northrup, Hamilton, ON; a brother-in-law, Bobby Grimes, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his loving wife, Cheryl (nee Grimes) in 2004.
Arrangements for Ernie are under the care and supervision of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) from where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. There will be a graveside service at 11 am at the Wentworth United Cemetery on Thursday, December 20, 2012.
Donations in memory of Ernie may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson's Society.
