HARRIET FISHER

Passed on: December 9th, 2012

Harriet Eva Fisher (nee Hill) (Dec. 8, 1913 – Dec. 9, 2012) having recently celebrated her 99th Birthday, passed away peacefully at Noric House in Vernon. Mom was predeceased by husband, Harry, in 1991 whom she married as a war bride in England in 1944. They moved shortly thereafter to Moose Jaw, SK where she and Harry raised their children: Harold, Helen, Howard, and Gerry. In 1982 after their children had married and moved to other locations, they moved to Vernon, BC to be closer to their son Howard and his wife, Linda along with their two sons.
Mom was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in both Moose Jaw and Vernon and enjoyed singing in the choirs. A wonderful homemaker and an exceptional cook, she crafted main courses and spectacular desserts enjoyed by family and friends on many occasions. She had a very positive outlook on life, with its trials and tribulations and approached all challenges with a quiet determined attitude. Mom had a bright and cheery manner with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to travel and enjoyed her time with all of her family.
Mom is survived by sister, Mildred and her husband Eddie of St. Catherine’s, ON, daughter Helen and husband Gary Huffman and their children, Rhonda and Greg and families of Calgary, AB, son Howard and wife, Linda of Vernon and sons, Todd and Ryan and families of Calgary, and daughter Gerry and husband, Ron McMullen and their children, Heather of Vernon, Chad and family of Edmonton and Bill and family of Smokey Lake, AB. Harriet is survived by fourteen great grandchildren. Our Mom was a wonderful mother who cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was a caring friend to many. She will be fondly remembered.
Rather than donations being made to a specific charity or organization, mourners are encouraged to donate to any of The Cancer Society, Autism, The Canadian Diabetes Association, the Vernon Presbyterian Church, Vernon Noric House or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Vernon on June 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A reminder will be placed in the Vernon Morning Star one week prior.
Arrangements were in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
